Feb 2024 1st Teacher’s Convention Session “Balancing Act – Navigating classroom realities while crafting quality curriculum expeirences”
About Me
Since beginning my career in education almost 15 years ago, I have noticed an increasing struggle for new teachers to manage the expectations put on them by the industry. I strongly believe in supporting each other to succeed and build an environment of open mentorship. Only with the foundation and strength of experienced educators can new teachers build themselves strong foundations.
There seems to be a disconnect between the realities of the classroom and the experiences gained in a teacher’s training. This is not to say universities don’t have a significant role in preparing new educators, I simply want to stress the magnitude of expectations facing new teachers. In my opinion, even after the theoretical knowledge of university, the enlightening exposure of practicum placements, new teachers are STILL met with a HUGE gap to manage once they are an educator. My aim is to create bridges (hence the name) between university and the classroom.
My passion for education has shifted from supporting only those within my classroom, to a broader approach with new teachers and their future students. My goal is to provide opportunities for teachers to feel supported, connected, and inspired as they take their first steps into the classroom.
In our professional learning sessions you can expect to actively participate in learning (just like in the classroom). There is “NO SIT AND GET” sessions over here. Educators will learn through a hands-on approach, using templates and tangible resources to prepare them for the reality of teaching in the classroom.

420+ Students Taught, 14+ Years of Experience
Over the course of my teaching career I have taught Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. With every class, I have learned just as much as I taught them. I have worked with a variety of students that have learning difficulties, neurological differences, behavioural challenges, physical impairments, and neotypical children. I feel every child deserves to learn, feel connected, and have a relationship with their teacher. This is getting harder for educators to achieve because of the increasing demands of standardized assessments, challenging behaviours, less access to student supports, just to name a few.
I am shifting my impact as an educator, from within JUST MY classroom to supporting MANY new teachers in THEIR classrooms.
